We do this by developing and implementing strategies to market New Zealand as a tourism destination internationally. Our purpose is to grow the value of international visitors for the benefit of the New Zealand economy. This is achieved by developing and implementing marketing, media, trade, and partnership strategies working co-operatively with our offices around the world and the travel industry.

As the General Manager – Australia you will lead Tourism New Zealand’s, Australian market team and contribute to the leadership of the organisation as a member of the organisation’s extended leadership team. Reporting to the Director of PR, Trade and Major Events, you will be responsible for the development of localised trade, PR and partnership strategies for our largest international tourism market, accounting for almost half of all international visitors to New Zealand.

A key aspect of this role is to develop an integrated plan to drive superior outcomes, lead trade programmes, undertake cooperative marketing initiatives with local trade and airline partners, and to be the voice back into the New Zealand industry.

With your great track record in developing and managing effective relationships and networks to grow a business, you will be able to contribute effectively to an executive team, and provide grounded advice about the tourism industry - specifically in relation to Australia.  

We need an experienced senior leader who can think strategically, and then operationalise strategy, who can demonstrate commercial acumen, and who thrives in a busy and challenging environment. You will need extensive hands on senior marketing experience ideally with in a range of organisations and have a good working knowledge of New Zealand.
