About the Tourism Industry

Tourism contributes close to 10 per cent of New Zealand's gross domestic product and both directly and indirectly employs nearly one in ten New Zealanders. From publicly listed companies to owner-operated small businesses, New Zealanders are involved in tourism throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand.

From tourism businesses and support services, to industry associations, regional tourism organisations and Government agencies, the New Zealand Tourism Strategy 2015 is the document that sets a direction for tourism in New Zealand. It keeps all of these organisations and individuals on the path of delivering a sustainable social, environmental and economic contribution to New Zealand.
