Tourism New Zealand's Explore New Zealand Programme gives New
Zealand tourism operators the opportunity to offer their products
and services at discounted rates to visiting international media
and travel sellers.
Tourism New Zealand hosts hundreds of international media and
visiting travel sellers every year (through our international media
and trade familiarisation programmes), giving them the chance to
experience New Zealand for themselves and share those experiences
with their readers, viewers or customers.
However, as much as we'd like to, we can't host everyone. The
Explore New Zealand Programme is designed to make it easier and
more affordable for approved media outlets and travel agents or
wholesalers to self-fund their own New Zealand familiarisation
visits.
Every two years we publish a guide book of discounts submitted
by operators from around the country. Around 650 accredited travel
agents and journalists/media from our key tourism markets are given
access to the discount programme each year, and issued with a
Tourism New Zealand Explore Card that they can use as they travel
around the country.
In May 2010, Explore was extended to Air New Zealand's team of
60 in-flight concierges. By giving them the chance to sample the
best of what New Zealand has to offer - at a discounted industry
rate - they are better equipped to assist passengers with travel
planning on long-haul flights from Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles
and Vancouver.
Registrations for Explore 2011-2012 have now
closed.
