Trade events are an important part of Tourism New Zealand's
trade training and marketing programme and there are a number of
ways tourism operators can get involved. We run events on and
offshore throughout the year that operators are invited to
participate in.
The best way of persuading someone of something is to show them.
Through our offshore trade events, training activity, famil
programme and trade website, Tourism New Zealand takes a taste of
New Zealand to travel agents, wholesalers and their staff, helping
equip them with the knowledge and passion they need to sell New
Zealand.
We bring around 200 travel agents to New Zealand every year
through our trade familiarisation (famil) programme. If you would
like to get involved, please talk to your regional tourism
organisation (find their details here) or read
more about our famil programme.
Tourism New Zealand Trade Events
We organise and participate in a number of trade shows and
events each year, including consumer and trade travel expos,
roadshows, product workshops and our own offshore trade shows
called Kiwi Links.
Operators that are ready to take their businesses offshore (see our Checklist) are
encouraged to participate in these events. There is a fee for
participation and operators must cover the costs of their own
transport and accommodation, but Tourism New Zealand will provide
full support before and during the visit, making all event
arrangements and ensuring you have the opportunity to build
relationships with key travel trade representatives in market.
Participating in these events is a great way to find your feet
in a new market. Find out more about the different kinds of
events we participate in.
Please note that you must have a Qualmark rating or endorsement (or equivalent
quality assurance rating) and have participated in at least one
TRENZ to be eligible to take part in offshore events. Read full
selection and participation criteria for Tourism New Zealand
events.

TRENZ - Tourism Industry Rendezvous New Zealand
TRENZ is the New Zealand tourism industry's largest trade event.
It is run by the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand (TIA),
with the support of Tourism New Zealand and airline partners.
Around 250 international travel sellers come to New Zealand for
the event and meet with New Zealand operators for one-on-one
appointments over three days. TRENZ is an excellent way to get to
know the offshore travel trade, educate them about your product and
build business relationships, as well as to network with hundreds
of other operators and people from the New Zealand tourism
industry.
You should participate in at least one TRENZ before thinking
about travelling offshore with Tourism New Zealand offshore.
Identify the markets you are thinking of operating in and focus on
obtaining appointments with buyers and agents from these
markets.
