Agents from China’s Smaller Cities Hosted on Famil to Build Knowledge

Event Date: 11 January 2011

11 - 20 September 2010

Ten front line travel sellers from the smaller cities around Shanghai; Hangzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Tianjin and Dalian, were hosted on a famil to enrich their regional and product knowledge to support Tourism New Zealand's efforts to expand into 2ndtier cities.

The agents gained first hand knowledge of traditional regions such as Auckland, Rotorua, Christchurch and Queenstown  as well as discovering newer destinations for the China market such as Waitomo, Bay of Plenty and Lake Tekapo.

Arriving just a week after the major earthquake, they were able to see for themselves that Christchurch was open for business for their clients.

Half of the group had never been to New Zealand before and most were surprised at the number of different types of products available.  They all saw the possibilities of  developing different itineraries for the different needs of their customers.
