Air New Zealand's Japan summer charter programme of seven
services utilising the 230-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft operated
successfully to New Zealand over the summer high season.
The weekly programme ran from 25 January 2012 - 7 March 2012
from the Japanese cities including Nagoya, Fukuoka and
Kagoshima.
The target audience for charters is the traditional Japanese
senior segment in cities outside the Tokyo and Osaka metropolitan
centres and this year's programme provided 1,610 additional seats
to NZ over the peak summer season.
Japanese travel agent partners involved in this charter
programme included JTB, Club Tourism, Meitetsu World Travel, Nokyo
Tourist Corp, Kinki Nippon Tourist, Hankyu Express, Nishitesu
Travel, Nangoku Kotsu and Miyuazaki Kotsu.
Tourism New Zealand actively supports the Air New Zealand
charter programme with retail agent training, agent familiarisation
visits and charter consumer seminars.
Work has now begun on the charter programme for summer 2012/13
and initial interest from travel agents in Japan is
encouraging.
