Market Growth and Seasonality
Annual visitor arrivals from Hong Kong increased in the year to
December 2009 to 23,572 (up 8.2 per cent).
Arrivals from Hong Kong fluctuate markedly across the year,
generally with peaks in December, and from February to April.
There was a change in visitor arrivals from February to April in
2009 due to the shift of Chinese New Year, changes in exchange rate
and available airline seats. Chinese New Year fell in February in
2007 and 2008, but was in January in 2009.
The current forecast is for arrivals from Asia outside of China,
Japan and South Korea to increase on average 1.4 per cent a year
between 2009 and 2015.
