Business Events

The international business events sector, particularly international conferences and incentives, offers considerable opportunity to attract new high value international visitors to New Zealand. In addition there is also an opportunity to grow visitor value further by encouraging delegates to extend their length of stay or return for a holiday.

Tourism New Zealand work collaboratively with the business events sector, and undertake business development and marketing activity to attract new conferences and incentives to New Zealand and grow delegate numbers and value. A key tool to achieve this is the Conference Assistance Programme that supports international conference bids.

Tourism New Zealand's business events team is based in Auckland, Wellington, Los Angeles, Sydney, Singapore and Shanghai and undertake a range of business development initiatives. Activity includes conference and incentive bidding; sales calls; training initiatives; attendance at trade shows; familiarisations of decision makers; and the development of online content and sales tools. The team also positions New Zealand as a business events destination through the Naturally Beyond Convention campaign.


Tourism New Zealand focuses its efforts on the following markets and segments:

  • North America, China, South East Asia, India – Incentives
