German actress Sophie Schuett is touring New Zealand in February
filming a travel programme that will show in Germany in August.
The 30-minute programme Das is mein Neuseeland, which
will be shown seven times on German television, airs to around
400,000 German viewers and is a well-established part of NTV
Germany's stable of shows.
The show is also rebroadcast in hotels, train stations and
airports in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and parts of Italy,
reaching up to 300,000 more viewers.
The 10-day tour will see Sophie Schuett travel from Auckland, to
Rotorua, Kaikoura, Christchurch and Dunedin.
"Sophie is very well known in Germany and the series is
well-watched. It's reach within Germany and within wider Europe and
the style of the programme - with a mixture of adventure and
enjoyment - makes it an ideal choice for Tourism New Zealand to
support," says Gregg Anderson, Tourism New Zealand Regional Manager
UK and Europe.
On the trip she will visit Hobbiton, Whakarewarewa Māori thermal
village and Kaitiaki Adventures in Rotorua. She's also planning to
enjoy a heli-hike and visit the glacial hot-pools at Franz
Josef, and watch whales in Kaikoura before heading to Christchurch
and the Otago Peninsula to see yellow-eyed penguins, royal
albatross and rare New Zealand sea lions.
There will be a healthy dose of luxury hotels and lodges, great
food and wine and, in Christchurch, the chance to enjoy some of New
Zealand's nightlife.
Tourism New Zealand hosts between 500 and 600 visiting media
each year, taking New Zealand into the homes of an estimated 1.5
billion viewers and readers through the print and television
coverage generated.
Stories and images from Sophie Schuett's New Zealand trip will
be offered to German lifestyle and entertainment media to increase
reach and circulation about New Zealand.
"The International Media and Public Relations
Programme is an important part of the work Tourism New Zealand
does to publicise New Zealand as a visitor destination. It's a
hugely successful concept that will bring some big name visitors to
New Zealand in 2010," says Tourism New Zealand General Manager of
Corporate Communications Cas Carter.
