Tourism New Zealand Announces Key Marketing Appointments

Tourism New Zealand is delighted to announce two key executive appointments. In line with our Marketing Strategy we have created two new positions responsible for the leadership, management and development of our marketing capability.

General Manager - Marketing Communications

Justin Watson will join Tourism New Zealand's Executive Team as General Manager Marketing Communications. This position is accountable for the implementation of Tourism New Zealand's marketing strategy, specifically international campaigns which facilitate the delivery of the organisation's strategic plan.

Justin joins us from McDonald's where he has had key marketing roles over the last five years, the last three and a half as Director of Marketing. He has had an extensive and successful marketing career over the last 13 years, which has included a variety of marketing roles with Coca Cola and DB.

Justin has sound strategic marketing and management experience and a demonstrated track record of successfully achieving marketing and business outcomes. This includes equity building, new product/brand development, brand and channel strategies, media planning, research, communications and consumer and trade activations. Justin will join the team in mid September 2010.

General Manager - Brand and International PR

Tourism New Zealand Executive Catherine Bates has been appointed to the role of General Manager Brand and International PR. This role will lead the integration of our branding, international PR, marketing insights and www.newzealand.com assets and will ensure that these functions are aligned to support the delivery of our strategic priorities.

Catherine has worked for Tourism New Zealand for 16 years and has extensive tourism marketing and management experience. She has an excellent track record of delivery in tourism marketing in strategy, brand, research, online, and campaign planning management and implementation. Catherine will take up her new role in mid September 2010.
