Joe and his wife Julie will be in the country for a week where they will once again be working to encourage Indonesian families to visit New Zealand.
Joe, known for his roles in the action film The Fast and The Furious 6 and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, has a strong presence on social media in Indonesia with 265,000Twitter followers, over 356,000 Instagram followers and more than 103,000 Facebook fans.
Tourism New Zealand Director of Trade, PR and Major Events René de Monchy says it is exciting to welcome the influential star back to New Zealand.
He said: “Through these celebrities we are able to showcase the diverse range of activities on offer in New Zealand and in turn greatly increase awareness of, and preference for, New Zealand as a holiday destination choice for Indonesian families."
To further leverage the trip Tourism New Zealand has secured four high profile media opportunities to increase the reach of this activity in market.
“A series of broadcast and print coverage of Joe’s visit will appear during and following his visit – further showcasing the amazing experiences to a wider audience of people in Indonesia who are considering travelling to New Zealand,” says René.
The media include popular talk show Just Alvin on Metro TV, Cosmopolitan magazine, NET TV News and Sketching traveller named @motulz.
The couple's romantic getaway will start in Auckland before heading to Wellington where the pair will visit Weta Workshop and discover the fresh tastes of New Zealand cuisine. They will then head to Queenstown where they will experience the region’s iconic scenery and adventure activities.
Throughout the week long adventure, the couple will also be keeping fans up to date through their social media channels.
“Last year Joe brought his family on a trip to New Zealand inspiring many Indonesians to start planning their trip to New Zealand and generating over $1 million in equivalent advertising value and we are confident we will see even better results from this visit,” says René.
Joe’s visit was supported through Tourism New Zealand’s International Media Programme with the support of Regional Tourism Organisations Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development, Positively Wellington Tourism and Destination Queenstown.
Indonesia has been identified as a key emerging market for Tourism New Zealand holding significant potential for New Zealand in the longer term.
In the year ending September New Zealand welcomed over 16,500 visitors from Indonesia – up 16.6 per cent on the previous year.
