Tourism New Zealand's latest joint venture offers travellers flying on Fiji Airways a free stopover in Fiji when they book a round trip from Los Angeles to Christchurch through to May 2015.
The US promotion, which runs 1-30 May 2014, is also being run in conjunction with agency TravelScene, Fiji Tourism and Christchurch International Airport.
"Holiday arrivals from the US have been showing stellar results, with an increase of over 13 per cent compared to the same period in 2013," says Gregg Anderson, Tourism New Zealand's General Manager - Americas and Europe.
"Christchurch receives the third largest volume of US visitor spend, equal to Wellington, and behind Auckland and Queenstown.
"With this campaign, we are aiming to achieve a lift in these figures for Christchurch and see even more US visitors welcomed to the Canterbury region.
"The US is our third largest visitor market, with plenty of opportunities for growth and when we have worked with other Pacific carriers like Air New Zealand, Hawaiian Airlines and Air Tahiti Nui, we have always seen strong growth. So we are anticipating a similar success story with Fiji Airways this year."
The campaign is using a combination of digital marketing tools, including online banners, direct emails and social media, to direct traffic to TravelScene's website, which also provides links to newzealand.com.
