The brochures were promoted on special New Zealand trekking displays at 190 Foxfire and outdoor stores across Japan.  A feature "live talk" New Zealand trekking event was also held in downtown Tokyo featuring well known hikers Daisuke and Yuri Yosumi who profiled their recent walk on Routeburn Track as featured in Wondervogal, a popular hiking magazine.

Attended by approximately 100 from mostly the younger segment, this "live talk" event profiled a review of New Zealand's Great Walks, the new 100% Middle-earth video and a special sign-up invitation to the Great Walker competition run by DOC and Air New Zealand.

Tourism New Zealand supported the development of Foxfire's New Zealand Trekking brochure and also brought Daisuke and Yuri Youmi to New Zealand to complete the Routeburn Track as part of its International Media programme.

Wandervogel, one of Japan's leading outdoor hiking magazines with circulation of 110,000, featured two New Zealand articles in their September edition including a 6 page story on Icebreaker clothing in the Southern Lakes hiking mecca and an 8 page feature story on independent hiking on Routeburn Track.
