Korean trade events continuing to be popular

It's been a busy year in Korea to date with four trade training events being held in the first half of 2013.

March and April saw two very successful trade events, Kiwi Link and TRENZ, and May was buzzing thanks to two events held back to back, the first in Busan and the second at the Hanatour International Travel Show.

Kiwi Link Korea March 2013

Korean travel agents and buyers were provided with new information and opportunities by New Zealand operators at the Kiwi Link event in March. Nine New Zealand operators and twenty-two travel agency managers attended the event, which received great feedback from both buyers and the operators including this comment from James Helmore, General Manager at Lake Wanaka Tourism: "Without a doubt I would consider this to be one of the best trade events I have attended and this is completely due to the way the TNZ team organised, energised and made us all feel welcome and prepared for business."

TRENZ 2013 & post-TRENZ Famil April 2013

TNZ brought eight key Korean buyers and one media agency to TRENZ this year, hosting them on a post-TRENZ famil which saw them explore Coromandel, Tauranga and Matamata in campervans.  All participants gave fantastic feedback, agreeing that experiencing these new destinations firsthand had provided them with a robust understanding which would better enable them promote and sell them to their customers.

The media agency, Global Travel News, released two feature pages about their time in New Zealand, which you can see here and here.

Busan Training May 2013

TNZ and Air New Zealand attended this annual trade event in Busan, the second largest city in Korea. The sixty-five Korean travel agents who attended were provided with information about destinations in New Zealand, new product updates, trade sites and specialist programme information to enable them to better sell New Zealand.  Te Puia, Polynesia Spa and Skyline Rotorua provided marketing information for the event as well as free souvenirs for all attendees. Positive feedback from the agents included how valuable the training had been, with agents stating they now felt very confident about selling New Zealand.  This event also resulted in increased trade enquiries immediately following the training with 72 new agency staff members subscribing to our Korean trade newsletter and five consultants completing the Kiwi Specialist online modules.

Hanatour International Travel Show May 2013

Hanatour's annual consumer travel show is one of the biggest events in the market and continues to grow in popularity after receiving 37 per cent more visitors in 2013, up from a 27 per cent increase in 2012. New Zealand was represented at The NZ Pavilion, which was co-hosted with Hobbiton, Te Puia, Skyline, Polynesian Spa, Agrodome and THL, in conjunction with TNZ.
