New appointment: International Business Events Manager

Tourism New Zealand has appointed Bjoern Spreitzer to the newly created position of International Business Events Manager, commencing 4June.

Bjoern has worked for Tourism New Zealand since November 2006, most recently as Business Development Manager based in Auckland, with existing responsibility for the Business Events sector.

The new role was created in response to the Government's significant increase in investment for marketing New Zealand as an international business events destination. 

General Manager Marketing Communications Justin Watson says the new role will make International Business Events Bjoern's sole focus.

"This is in recognition of the significance of the sector and the priority it has been given by within Tourism New Zealand. It will also be an important role in helping to promote New Zealand's new conference infrastructure in Auckland and Christchurch.

"As International Business Events Manager Bjoern will be dedicated to working closely with the sector in New Zealand, and increasing New Zealand's profile internationally as a unique destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and events.

"His first priority will be to recruit new staff both in New Zealand and internationally, adding to the existing resource and adding the additional capability needed to deliver for the sector.

Tourism New Zealand will begin the recruitment process for Bjoern's replacement immediately.
