Speaking about the award, Steven Dixon, Regional Manager South and South East Asia, Tourism New Zealand, says, “New Zealand is known for the variety of adventurous experiences that it offers and it is fantastic to see the country recognised once again by the travellers themselves.
“As a key market for Tourism New Zealand, the award is a positive endorsement from Indian travellers – which supports our work to drive interest and awareness with those considering booking a trip to experience it for themselves.”
Tourism New Zealand's tourism ambassador for India, Sidharth Malhotra, joined Tourism New Zealand in accepting the award on 9 May.
In October last year Sidharth experienced New Zealand’s adrenaline pumping adventures first hand. During his eight-day visit Sidharth immersed himself in adventure and shared his favourite events with his extensive social media following, seeing 2.8 million people engage with his posts while he was here.
The Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards 2016 were hosted in Mumbai on 9 May,. Australia and South Africa were the first and second runners up respectively in the Adventure category.
