SSEA mega-famil to deliver 51 accredited 100% Pure NZ Specialists

In early March, 51 South and South East Asia (SSEA) travel sellers will descend on New Zealand as part of the first SSEA mega-famil - and their final step to becoming fully accredited 100% Pure New Zealand Specialists.

The travel sellers are visiting from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Singapore and Thailand. Over seven days they will travel the length of the country and experience a raft of tourism activities first-hand.

Justin Watson, Director of Trade, PR and Major Events, said the mega-famil format will enable the attendees to gain a thorough experiential knowledge of the country to complement the 100% Pure New Zealand Specialist programme they have started completing in market over the last few months.

"In order to become a 100% Pure New Zealand Specialist, travel agents need to complete 10 on-line training modules, attend a Tourism New Zealand led training session and visit New Zealand. Once certified their Specialist status is granted for two years. Having now visited New Zealand, the agents will have fulfilled their criteria to become fully fledged '100% Pure New Zealand Specialists'.

"The South and South East Asia markets present significant opportunities for future growth of visitor arrivals. A critical step to realising this potential is ensuring travel sellers in-market are knowledgeable about New Zealand and are able to effectively sell it as a holiday destination."

India and Indonesia were identified as two priority emerging markets as part of TNZ's 2013 three year marketing strategy.

"Over the last six months we have significantly increased both our presence and investment in these markets - building awareness of New Zealand as a holiday destination to ensure we capture the future growth opportunities they present."

While here the travel sellers will take part in one of four separate itineraries, visiting Auckland, Northland, Waikato/Hamilton, Rotorua, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson/Tasman, Christchurch Canterbury, West Coast, Wanaka, Queenstown, Fiordland, Central Otago and Dunedin.

The mega-famil will close with a two day training session where they will meet eight of New Zealand's IMA's (International Marketing Alliances) in Auckland before attending a gala dinner at which they will be presented with their certificate of achievement as a qualified 100% Pure New Zealand Specialists.

"The training will follow that of our successful Kiwi Link events run offshore - which will be a familiar format for these markets.

"We are really looking forward to hosting these agents in our beautiful country - educating them on New Zealand as a destination and sending them home certified as a New Zealand Specialist."
