Capitalising on interest in TRENZ, Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) invited eight targeted travel buyers from Russia, Czech Republic, Estonia, and Germany on a hosted famil.
The buyers were selected as part of Tourism New Zealand's work to widen the reach of its European activity to promote New Zealand to Eastern European markets.
Regional Manager UK & Europe Danielle Genty-Nott says it marks the start of engagement in these markets to tap into the potential growth opportunities TNZ has identified alongside traditional markets.
"As a top-tier market Germany will remain a key priority, however we always look to maximise the reach of our activity to generate interest from neighbouring markets."
Many of the buyers had never visited New Zealand before and the famil provided a great opportunity to showcase the wide range of experiences on offer.
"With the itinerary based on a self drive trip they were able to get a true sense of New Zealand. Experiencing this first hand gives the buyers robust knowledge of the range of opportunities available for travellers - enabling them to bring it to life for their clients back home," says Danielle.
Starting in Northland, the trip took them through Rotorua, Hawke's Bay, and Wellington before culminating with TRENZ in Queenstown.
The itinerary showcased the wide range of travel experiences on offer from premium products through to cultural and adventure experiences.
The group stayed in high-end accommodation and dined on a range of the country's finest food and wine. They also enjoyed a range of outdoor and cultural activities including Tai Mai Tours, Ko Waihu and a tour of Hobbiton.
