Business Events

The business events sector offers considerable opportunity to grow visitor value by attracting more high value conference and incentive delegates to New Zealand.

In addition there is also an opportunity to grow visitor value further by encouraging delegates to extend their length of stay or return for a holiday.

Tourism New Zealand's role is to work collaboratively with the business events sector, and undertake business development and marketing activity to grow delegate numbers and value.

Tourism New Zealand's business events team, based locally and offshore, undertake a range of initiatives that aim to grow quality leads. Activity includes sales calls; training initiatives; attendance and coordination of the sector, at trade shows; familiarisations of decision makers; and the development of online content and sales tools.

Leads generated can then be shared with the sector, with the aim to covert interest to actual business.

Tourism New Zealand is most active in North America, China and South East Asia.

The business events contacts at Tourism New Zealand are Mischa Mannix - Business Development Manager, Leonie Ashford - Business Events Bid Manager, Anna Agnew - Business Events Consultant, Steven Dixon - Business Events Manager North America and Alfred Li Hu - Trade Manager Greater China.
