Senior Marketing Research Analyst
(Auckland Based)
Our Consumer Marketing team is seeking a proactive individual who has a sound background in marketing research and the tourism sector. The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate research know-how coupled with experience in developing and delivering marketing research programmes. This person will be a strategic thinker who has great communication and interpersonal skills, project management experience and has a demonstrable enthusiastic and creative approach. This individual will also have sound analytical and technical research skills and an ability to make sense of and effectively share marketing information.
Reporting to the Marketing Research Manager, the main responsibilities of this role include providing strategic analysis and interpretation of research data and ensuring this is made available to the relevant audience. Responsibilities also include contributing to research briefing, management and dissemination processes, and providing research assistance and advice to the marketing team. Coordination of research projects and communication plans both internally and externally are also key components of this role.

Campaign Manager - Asia
(Auckland Based)
The Tourism New Zealand Consumer Marketing Team has a great opportunity for a motivated and strategic marketer to manage the development and implementation of campaign activity in the Asian markets. Reporting to the General Manager - Consumer Marketing, the Campaign Manager - Asia is responsible for developing media planning briefs for each overseas market based on the advertising strategy, managing media planning process from briefing to the provision of materials and developing agency briefs for all campaign activity.
The ideal person will have drive, energy and be able to demonstrate a successful track record in the development and delivery of campaign strategies. She/he will also be able to demonstrate the capability to work with a strategic marketing plan and possess proven financial and project management skills. Demonstrated relationship management experience across a broad range of stakeholder groups, along with the ability to think strategically is essential. Finally, as this person is responsible for the management and leadership of a small, dedicated team, the ability to get things done through people and get on with them while doing so is important.

100% Pure New Zealand - marketing New Zealand to the world…
Tourism New Zealand’s role is to market New Zealand off-shore as a desirable visitor destination, to New Zealand’s target market. This is done through the 100% Pure New Zealand marketing campaign.
Tourism New Zealand has about 120 staff, approximately half of which work in overseas offices in places such as London, Los Angeles, Sydney, Mumbai, Tokyo, Shanghai and Singapore.
Everything Tourism New Zealand does incorporates the 100% Pure New Zealand message.
Consumer Marketing and Online Presence
The Marketing team, based in Auckland, work on the campaign. Components include advertising, which takes place in our key markets of Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, China and Japan.
The internet also plays an important role, with a suite of sites based around the website targeted at potential visitors - www.newzealand.com
In the 2008 calendar year, there were on average 900,000 user sessions per month. Average user sessions increased by 95 per cent in 2008 compared with 2007 when there were on average 460,000 user sessions.
For year end March 2009, there were on average 1,100,000 user sessions per month, a substantial increase (121%) on the previous year ended March, which had on average 500,000 user sessions.
The increase is driven up in particular by the high number of Chinese users in February and March as a result of 100% Pure New Zealand campaign activity in the market.
Other websites are targeted at overseas travel trade, overseas media, and overseas media and trade needing photographs to promote New Zealand through their business.
Product Marketing
The Product Marketing team looks at encouraging the capability of New Zealand businesses.
International Media and Events
The International Media Programme is also an important tool in encouraging potential visitors to come to New Zealand.
Media coverage is one of the most credible ways of conveying information about New Zealand, and Tourism New Zealand’s IMP team work with our offshore offices to help journalists with story ideas, develop itineraries, and bring them to New Zealand to experience it for themselves. The events team works on creating and linking with targeted existing events to promote New Zealand as a destination.
Travel Trade
Working with the overseas travel trade is also an important aspect of the work that Tourism New Zealand does. This is looked after by the Operations team, the second-largest team at Tourism New Zealand.
The team includes the overseas offices and a support team in Wellington. Various training initiatives both on and offshore are implemented by this team, including small group training sessions, itinerary planning and familirisation activities.
The team also manages Tourism New Zealand's travel trade website - www.traveltrade.newzealand.com. The site was developed to provide international travel sellers with the information they need to sell a New Zealand holiday. It includes detailed regional information, new product and itinerary suggestions, online training modules, trade brochure order forms and trade news and events. The site was recently redeveloped.
Tourism Development
The Tourism Development team works with the New Zealand industry on capability issues, such as quality, information provision, policies and planning.
Corporate Communications
Corporate Communications deals with external and internal communication, making sure that Tourism New Zealand’s stakeholders are informed about tourism and Tourism New Zealand activity. This incorporates external publications and websites.
Corporate Services
Corporate Services is the financial and organisational hub, covering finances, planning, legal services, human resources, technology and office management.
