Frequently Asked QuestionsCan we stay at an alternative hotel? Yes, but you will need to make your own arrangements. Participants who make their own hotel arrangements will need to make their own way to the event venue including transport of any materials. If you wish to stay at alternative accommodation, this cost will be separate and additional to the Kiwi Link Japan 2008 participation fee. No deductions will be made to this cost as group rates have been negotiated and rooms held by Tourism New Zealand. Do I require a visa for entry into Japan? No, a visa is not required for New Zealand citizens. If you are not a NZ citizen then you should check with the Japan Embassy or Consulate in New Zealand. When will my credit card be charged? In general, hotels require a credit card number to guarantee additional costs including mini-bar etc. Your card will not be charged until you check out of your accommodation. Can we make appointments to see wholesalers and retailers pre or post Kiwi Link Japan? Yes. If you arrange to arrive early in Osaka and extend your stay in Tokyo then there will be additional time for you to meet with the industry. Should you need assistance in arranging appointments, please contact Ayako Takei to arrange this ayakot@tnz.govt.nz . Those operators who plan to arrive early or stay on after Kiwi Link 2008 must make their own travel arrangements. Are there any cultural considerations that I should be aware of? Yes. Japanese people are very particular about exchanging their business cards with other people. It is recommended that not only do you bring an ample supply with you, but you also present your business card holding it with both hands and again receive theirs with both hands. We suggest you place the business cards in front of you (not in your pocket) when providing them with your presentation at the workshops. Do I need to provide gifts? It is not necessary these days but it is a nice gesture to give something small (hats, t-shirts, pens etc ) and is also an opportunity to promote your product.
