China Monitoring Unit

The Tourism New Zealand China Group Tour Approved Destination Status ("ADS") system came into force on 1 November 2007.

The ADS system involves approving New Zealand based Inbound Tour Operators to work within the China ADS system and monitoring their conduct, performance and quality standards.

This system is being administered by the China Monitoring Unit, which was established by Tourism New Zealand in September 2007.

Inbound Operators can apply to operate within the new China Group Tour ADS system providing they meet 'fit and proper person' requirements and can demonstrate compliance with the Code of Conduct for ADS Tours which was issued on 21 September 2007.

The China Monitoring Unit is responsible for administering the following activities:

  • Assessing new applicants
  • Completing regular compliance assessments on those Inbound Operators approved within the new system
  • Monitoring ADS approved operators to ensure compliance with Code of Conduct for ADS Tours requirements
  • Handling complaints and feedback from Chinese Group Tour visitors to New Zealand
