Campaign

The ‘New Zealand On Wheels’ campaign screened on prime-time television in early 2008, attracting strong interest from consumers and queries specifically asking about products showcased in the campaign.

A follow-up integrated marketing campaign will be launched in February 2009 in order to generate interest during the NATAS consumer travel fair (27 February to 1 March 2009).

The focus of the campaign will be four travelogue programmes of half an hour each on Channel News Asia, a business television channel in Singapore that reaches audiences across Asia. The travelogue series will be supported by online, newspaper, magazine and radio advertising, as well as tactical promotions with key trade partners in Singapore.

Trade

Self-drive training was held for 45 travel agents in Singapore recently and Tourism New Zealand also made a presentation to 125 members of the Autombile Association on self-drive holidays in New Zealand.

Events

Tourism New Zealand hosted about 30 airline partners, agents and VIP media for a cocktail function at the New Zealand High Commissioner’s residence recently.

Competitor Activity

The movie Australia will be released in cinemas in Singapore on 25 December. Tourism Australia, Australian state tourist organisations and Singapore agents specialising in Australia will run a joint promotional campaign around the movie, including radio, print and PR.
