Competing Destinations

Visitor Experience Monitor Summary

In 2007/08, the research asked visitors about their holiday experience in key competing destinations.

By asking visitors about other holidays they have had in the past five years, it is possible to evaluate the New Zealand holiday experience in comparison to key competing destinations.

The most popular destinations among visitors surveyed were Australia, the UK, Singapore, the US and New Zealand when visited on a previous holiday (as opposed to the recent one just finished at the time of the survey).

Amongst those top destinations, the most satisfying (at 91% highly satisfied) was a previous New Zealand holiday. This was followed by Australia with 76 per cent of respondents highly satisfied with their previous holiday, and the UK which had 68 per cent highly satisfied.
