Business Events

International business events, including international conferences and incentive programmes, have the potential to attract high value international visitors to New Zealand.

Incentive programmes are used by employers to motivate employees, often in sales teams, to encourage best performance. The incentive offered is often an all expenses paid holiday.

These visitors tend to spend more and are high-value in terms of the knowledge benefits and business networking opportunities they bring with them.

The Tourism New Zealand’s Business Events team draws connections with government, top academics and business leaders to attract new conferences and incentives that will enrich New Zealand.

We harness the power of our people, their knowledge, and the beauty and uniqueness of our country to deliver events packed with inspiration and impact, both for our visitors and the local community.

The information shared and decisions taken at business events can profoundly change communities, impacting areas from policy and legislation change, to public health initiatives, environmental action, economic growth or the creation of new jobs.

Our Conference Assistance Programme is a key tool, helping us to support international conference bids that align with and bring benefit to New Zealand’s leading industry sectors.

Dedicated business events staff are based in Auckland, Wellington, Los Angeles, Sydney, Singapore and Shanghai, providing local support and positioning New Zealand as an attractive business events destination.

Our business development activity includes conference and incentive bidding; sales calls; training initiatives; attendance at trade shows; familiarisation visits for decision makers; and the development of online content and sales tools. The team also positions New Zealand as a business events destination through marketing campaigns.

Tourism New Zealand focuses its efforts on the following markets and segments:

  • Global – International association conferences
  • Australia – Association and corporate conferences
  • North America, China, South East Asia, India – Incentives
