Tourism New Zealand held a dinner, inviting the group who had gathered in Brisbane to attend the Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) conference.
Around 50 conference organisers from across Australia attended the dinner and learned about New Zealand’s conference offering. Australia is important to New Zealand, with business events delegates accounting for nearly 40,000 visitors each year – a figure which events such as these seeks to grow.
“The New Zealand map projection on the dinner table was amazing, moving from day to night throughout the course of the evening,” says Lisa Gardiner, Business Events and Premium Manager, Tourism New Zealand.
“The map then illustrated the many things to see and do in New Zealand. This allowed us to showcase New Zealand’s regional products and services and how geographically close they all are to access.”
“The event was titled New Zealand – Awakening your curiosity and it certainly achieved that in a really unique, visual way garnering lots of positive feedback about how original the concept was.”
The Australian business events market is increasingly considering New Zealand amongst their domestic destinations. This has been bought on by major increases in flight connectivity and capacity, It’s never been easier to bring a conference to New Zealand.
With major projects underway to expand New Zealand’s conference capacity, new venues will add further capacity for large-scale events
