Celebrity talk show host travels New Zealand with Joe Taslim

Tourism ambassador in Indonesia Joe Taslim and his family visited New Zealand in November, accompanied by celebrity star Sarah Sechan.

Sarah Sechan is the star of her own talk show, which screens nightly on Indonesia's news, lifestyle and entertainment channel NET. She also has a huge number of followers on social media, with over two million followers on her combined Twitter accounts.

Tourism New Zealand's Director of Trade, PR and Major Events Justin Watson says that Sarah Sechen's talk show is described as "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" of Indonesia.

"Sarah accompanied Joe and his family on their tour of New Zealand and filmed two episodes which screened in December. It was a great coup to secure the visit, as this is the first time Sarah's show has been filmed outside Jakarta.

"Sarah is known for her bubbly and outgoing presentation style, making her an ideal choice for showcasing New Zealand's premium family and scenic experiences.

Bringing Joe and his family, plus Sarah, to New Zealand enabled Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) to reach a large audience in Indonesia, many of whom may be considering a family holiday overseas.

"Through these celebrities we are able to showcase the diverse range of family activities on offer in New Zealand and in turn greatly increase awareness of, and preference for, New Zealand as a holiday destination choice for Indonesian families."

Joe, who shot to fame starring in action films The Raid: Redemption and The Fast and The Furious 6, has a strong presence on social media in Indonesia with 197,000 Twitter followers, over 131,000 Instagram followers and more than 53,600 Facebook fans.

This is the second visit for the actor, who first visited New Zealand in January 2014 with TNZ's International Media Programme, along with luxury travel magazine DestinAsian Indonesia. In October, on the back of this successful visit, TNZ appointed Joe as its tourism influencer in Indonesia.

Although NET is in its early days, launching less than two years ago on 26 May 2013, the network has more than 21 million viewers and is the first Indonesian television channel to become a content partner with Google & YouTube. Since its launch, NET's official account on YouTube has reached over 23 million views.

Over one million in equivalent advertising value has already been achieved from social media activity generated by Joe Taslim and Sarah Sechan during their New Zealand visit.

The two New Zealand episodes of the Sarah Sechan Show aired in Indonesia on 21 and 28 December and will be available to view on YouTube.

The Taslim's trip to Hobbiton and Te Puia has also aired on NET's entertainment news, using posts from Joe's social media accounts.

Three Indonesian publications, Venture and Foodie Magazine, Men's Health and Best Life, and Kompas Newspaper, also accompanied the Taslim family on their New Zealand visit and Justin says the feedback received has been extremely positive.

"All commented how much they enjoyed their time with the Taslims in New Zealand and we expect to see great results appearing in these publications over the next few months."
