Consultation opens on revised environmental and quality criteria for tourism flight operators

Qualmark has been part of an industry initiative to revise the Qualmark environmental and quality criteria, specific to tourism flight operators.

As a result new draft criteria have been developed with leaders from the Tourism Flight Operators group and support from the Tourism Industry Association (TIA).

Your feedback on the draft Tourism Flight Operators sector criteria (below) is now being sought.

Consultation on the draft criteria will close at 5:00pm, 1 March 2013.
Feedback can be emailed to All submissions will be reviewed by Qualmark in conjunction with TIA and the Tourism Flight Operators industry review group.

Why make changes?

Industry feedback in 2012 suggested that there was an increasing duplication of audit requirements for tourist flight operators; in particularly around aspects of flight noise abatement. It is intended that these Qualmark changes will in many cases reduce the need for additional external noise abatement audits by operators.

Industry input into the criteria is hugely valuable to ensuring relevance and applicability for the sector.
These proposed changes are in addition to your core Visitor Activity assessment, however tourist flight operators will need to meet the agreed additional standard of tourism flight operator best practice as part of their Qualmark quality endorsement i.e. the environmental criteria cannot be audited in isolation, it's part of the full Qualmark assessment.
