On 12 March 2020 the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the global COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. Since then it has significantly impacted most countries around the globe, including New Zealand.
On 19 March the New Zealand Government announced strict border measures, effectively stopping all people from boarding a plane to New Zealand from 11:59pm that same day, except for returning New Zealanders.
These measures are necessary to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in New Zealand, but they have also had a significant impact on the tourism industry.
As a result, Tourism New Zealand was asked to help kickstart tourism in New Zealand by leading the restart of domestic tourism alongside the industry. Work to do this is currently underway.
On this page we’ve listed a range of useful resources to help our industry get through this unprecedented time.
