Emerging markets the target of latest Kiwi Link event

Kiwi Link South and South East Asia kicked-off in Bangkok last week from 3-5 March, with 38 New Zealand operators attending to promote their tourism products.

The event was held in Thailand and catered to the wider South and South East Asiaregion with 44 product managers from across the region attending.

Kiwi Link is a Tourism New Zealand organised and funded event, designed to give New Zealand operators the opportunity to get in front of key travel decision makers.

The event was specifically for Product Managers from Indonesia, SingaporeMalaysia,India and Thailand and provided valuable face-to-face networking and relationship building opportunities for operators.

"We have been very impressed with the high number of New Zealand operators looking to get involved in this year's SSEA Kiwi Link," says Regional Manager South and South East Asia, Mischa Mannix-Opie.

"These emerging markets hold a lot of potential for operators and there is huge value for operators to invest the time to build awareness of New Zealand and their specific products. Many of these markets travel outside of the traditional New Zealand high season so they provide good business for operators when other market arrivals are lower," says Mischa.

Following Kiwi Link, 30 of the New Zealand operators then attend a frontline training mission in Jakarta, where were face-to-face with 100 travel agents to develop their knowledge of New Zealand and build strong relationships with key market contacts. This was Tourism New Zealand's first trade mission into this market since its renewed focus in 2012/13.
