International visitors spend hits an all-time high – YE June 2014

International visitor spend reached a new high of $7.1 billion for the year ending June 2014 - up 11 per cent on the previous year.

The figures released today show the growth in spend has been supported by an increase in total visitor arrivals up 5.7 per cent for the period.

Deborah Gray, GM Corporate Affairs says, "What is positive for the tourism industry is that the growth we have seen in holiday arrivals over the last year has driven this result, with holiday spend up 23.0 per cent for the year ending June 2014."

For the year ending June holidays arrivals increased 8.1 per cent with stay days up 12.9 per cent for the same period.

The year-end June 2014 International Visitor Survey (IVS) release marks the first full year of data from the redeveloped IVS and revised visitor spend series, and was issued by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
