JTB brochure and joint venture promotions set foundation for new season in Japan

Key travel seller to the traditional Japanese senior segment, JTB, has launched its latest edition of its benchmark 'red book'.

The release of the brochure sees the largest travel seller in Japan gear up for the launch of the high season promotion period - set to kick-off in early August.

In support, Tourism New Zealand has been readying JTB agents undertaking a series of training seminars with Air New Zealand which will run through to August. The sessions will train over 500 front-line agents and will be followed with tailored consumer seminars running till October.

In the coming weeks 250,000 copies of the 70 page brochure will be distributed to all stores and agents across the JTB network.

Targeting the Japanese senior traveller, the latest edition reinforces New Zealand's world heritage hiking and mountain attractions, a key interest area for the audience. A number of the featured tours have extended stay options enjoying easy access to world heritage areas.  New tours featuring North Island options and a selection of premium and high end tour options are also profiled.

For the first time, JTB and Tourism New Zealand will support the release of the brochure with a 30 second video of New Zealand run across large LED displays in 39 prominent stores around Tokyo.

The activity will be further supported with direct mail and database emails, in-store activity and tailored website pages on newzealand.com and JTB's own website.  In addition, Tourism New Zealand and JTB are producing a unique 12 page promotional feature for use across JTB's promotional channels.

In mid-October, Tourism New Zealand will assist the on-going training of JTB agents with a front line educational visit to New Zealand.
