Ski regions the focus of latest Australian campaign

Tourism New Zealand has partnered with Air New Zealand to launch a game that educates travel agents about New Zealand’s ski regions.

Kiwi Peak Pros is an educational video game that challenges users to collect as many icons as possible while they learn about New Zealand’s ski regions.

“Almost 50 per cent of Australian visitors to New Zealand book their trip through a travel agent so it’s incredibly important they are New Zealand experts,” says Andrew Waddel, Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager Australia.

“Australian visitors return to New Zealand an average of three to four times in their lifetime. The game provides a great opportunity to encourage them to come at different times of the year, visit multiple regions, and partake in a range of activities, such a skiing.

“Each of New Zealand’s world-class ski regions are represented in the game, from the slopes of Mt Ruapehu and the trails of Mt Hutt, to the alpine ski fields in Queenstown and Wanaka.

“We know New Zealand is home to world-class ski fields and want to ensure Australians are aware of it too.”

The game is part of Tourism New Zealand’s wider ski campaign, Winter at its Peak which runs in Australia from 4 March to 26 May.

Travel agents who play the game are directed to a page on traveltrade.newzealand.com where more information can be found on each mountain to help increase their knowledge of New Zealand’s ski fields.
