New Zealand’s tourism advocate in Indonesia, Nadine Chandrawinata—an actress, model and former Miss Universe Indonesia—visited Christchurch, Mount Cook Mackenzie, Canterbury, Queenstown and Wanaka in May and experienced what these regions have to offer.
Travel packages inspired by Nadine’s visit have been created by six of Tourism New Zealand’s Indonesian travel agent partners allowing Indonesians to follow in her footsteps.
“We are excited to be launching these special travel packages, making it easy for Indonesians who were inspired by Nadine’s travels to experience New Zealand for themselves,” says Steven Dixon, Tourism New Zealand’s Regional Manager South and South East Asia.
“Indonesia is a priority emerging market for New Zealand, and one that we are committed to cultivate.
“In the year ending June 2017 a total of 24,064 Indonesians visited New Zealand, almost 17,800 of them for a holiday—48.1% more than the previous year.
“We are confident that having Nadine on board as our tourism advocate will be a key contributing factor to continued growth.””
The travel packages on offer range from day trips to honeymoon packages and month-long tours.
They were unveiled at an event in Jakarta recently where Nadine’s New Zealand journey was shared with 30 travel and lifestyle media outlets and key stakeholders.
New Zealand’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Dr Trevor Matheson, gave the key note speech at the event where attendees were encouraged to experience New Zealand in a virtual reality booth.
“Nadine’s experiences, and the coverage generated in the media to date, have helped bring to life what New Zealand is like as holiday destination.
“We are excited to see the coverage generated following this event and how this, along with the incentive of special travel packages, converts to bookings,” says Steven.
A page has been established on newzealand.com which showcases Nadine’s adventures, itinerary and the special travel packages.
