The great New Zealand road trip – Oz style

Tourism New Zealand is encouraging Australian holiday makers to go on a road trip around New Zealand this spring in its latest digital campaign.

Over the next six weeks Australians will get a taste of what they can experience by taking their time to travel around New Zealand’s regions in spring.

Tourism New Zealand has produced a series of videos that capture the road trip experiences of a couple as they explore different parts of New Zealand. The duo’s itinerary includes four road trips from Russell to Takou Bay in Northland, Rotorua to Hobbiton, Nelson to the West Coast of the South Island, and Wanaka to Lake Matheson.

The videos provide inspiration and encourage people to where there are more itineraries and ideas for them to create their own ideal road trip.

“Australian travellers comprise New Zealand’s largest international visitor market and we are increasingly seeing them hire a rental car during their trips to New Zealand. The Road Trips campaign provides Australians who are actively considering a trip to New Zealand with sample itineraries showing them how easy it is to travel around New Zealand by car,” says Andrew Fraser, Tourism New Zealand’s Director of Marketing.

“This campaign illustrates to Australian visitors that they can expect unexpected journeys around every corner on their great New Zealand road trip. It does not take long to travel between attractions and spring is a great time to explore New Zealand as it is a quieter time than the summer peak.”

The campaign features across digital channels, and ensures Australian visitors are clued up on the unique features of New Zealand’s roads ahead of their road trip.
