TNZ famils get US agents seal of approval

Tourism New Zealand's familiarisation (famil) programme has received high praises from a group of US agents who visited late last year.

Travel Market Report, a popular website targeting the US travel industry, spoke to several agents who participated in the famils and has published an article on their experiences.

Feedback from the agents was extremely positive saying the experience has helped shape their understanding of the destination and how best to sell it to their clients.

The agents were hosted on a seven day trip on either North or South Island itineraries where they experienced a wide range of tourism activities and products helping to develop their knowledge and expertise of the region.

Agent Janice Lonnqvist from Ocean Breeze Holidays says, "I learned so much. Every day we had another eye-opener. It's great that I can now use my firsthand knowledge with clients," said

"This feedback shows just how important and beneficial our famils are and reinforces the value of investing in offering agents the opportunity to experience New Zealand for themselves' says Justin Watson, General Manager Marketing Communications.
