Tourism New Zealand was a winner in two categories at the 2016 PR Awards Asia in Hong Kong. TNZ won gold in the Brand Development Campaign of the Year (service) category and Bronze in the South Asia PR Campaign of the Year. Both were entered under the umbrella of TNZ’s ‘Every Day a Different Journey’ campaign.
The Gold Awards are the most prized of all, recognising the overall achievements in the industry, from professionals, agencies and communicators within the Asia Pacific region.
The award winning work is further recognition that TNZ’s choice of Bollywood star, Sidharth Malhotra as tourism ambassador to India is a huge success, driving strong interest among Indians considering a New Zealand holiday.
Speaking about the awards, Steven Dixon, Regional Manager, South and South East Asia, Tourism New Zealand, says: “It is rewarding to see that our campaign has been recognised on such a revered platform, with the awards acknowledging the work we are undertaking to grow this visitor market for New Zealand.”
India is an important emerging market for New Zealand, with visitor arrivals to New Zealand growing steadily since Tourism New Zealand increased its investment in the market three years ago. For the year ending April holiday arrivals reached 23,440, up 16.4 per cent year-on-year.
Additional funding announced in this year’s Budget will further support Tourism New Zealand’s capacity to grow the Indian visitor market.
The latest award follows on from New Zealand being named India’s favourite adventure destination in the Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards in May.
