Tourism New Zealand Acting Chief Executive Appointed

Tourism New Zealand Chair Kerry Prendergast has today confirmed the appointment of Brighid Kelly, Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager People, to the position of Acting Chief Executive.

The appointment is effective from 5:00pm Friday October 28, when Kevin Bowler steps down as the current Chief Executive after almost seven years in the role.

The search for a permanent Chief Executive is well advanced with a search consultant working with the Board to undertake the search and selection.  The position is currently being advertised.

Kerry says Brighid has been on the Core Leadership Team for two years and is held in extremely high regard by the Board and the rest of the leadership team.

“In her current role as GM People, Brighid is uniquely placed to have an overview of, and insight into, all areas of the organisation and what is required to keep things steady.

“As such she will be able to ensure the necessary decision making can continue alongside the development of the new four-year strategy, FY18 business planning and business as usual activities that occur across the organisation.

“As Acting Chief Executive, Brighid will hold all the official delegations and authority of the Chief Executive until a permanent appointment has been made,” says Kerry.
