Tourism New Zealand received the “Tourism Board of the Year 2017” award at the 29th Virtuoso® Travel Week conference in Las Vegas, USA.
The Virtuoso® Travel Week is held annually and has been described as “Fashion Week” for the luxury tourism sector. This year’s event was attended by more than 5,670 travel agents from across 45 countries and 70+ tourism boards.
“Recognition at this level is fantastic for New Zealand and a major endorsement of our luxury tourism market. The awards are voted on by Virtuoso®’s 16,000-strong community of luxury travel advisors. To receive the ‘Tourism Board of the Year’ award three years in a row demonstrates the relationship we have with this sector and New Zealand’s position as a top destination for luxury clients globally,” says Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager Americas and Europe, Bjoern Spreitzer.
Albert Herrera, Senior Vice President, Global Product Partnerships for Virtuoso said Tourism New Zealand “demonstrated a superior commitment to product excellence, expert knowledge and outstanding client service, all qualities highly valued by this network”.
“This award places Tourism New Zealand in a very exclusive category, as Virtuoso’s most celebrated partners are recognised as leaders within the industry. Its contributions and close relationships with our advisors enable Virtuoso to maintain its status as the world’s most exceptional luxury and experiential travel network.”
Tourism New Zealand regularly collaborates with Virtuoso on events including hosting in-market training sessions and seminars, webinar training, and travel trade famils, and marketing to its invitation-only database of more than one million affluent travellers who have a median net-worth of $US1.75 million.
