US Business Events workshops a hit

San Francisco and New York based incentive and meeting planners got to experience the diversity of New Zealand and Australian Business Events at two workshops held earlier this month.

Run in conjunction with Air New Zealand and Tourism Australia, the workshops aimed to leverage off Australia's established presence in the long-haul meetings sector as TNZ works to broaden its approach to include the meetings and association sector.

The events used an experiential format, showcasing the diversity on offer between a dual destination programme for Sydney and Queenstown.

After entering a room themed as a plane, attendees gathered in the Air New Zealand lounge for drinks before being called for their flight and taken on a 'famil' (familiarisation) experience with presentations on the two destinations. Attendees were then treated to New Zealand and Australian food and a matched wine tasting.

During the workshops New Zealand was positioned as the ideal pre or post meeting destination for delegates attending large Australian conferences. As an added incentive, Air New Zealand offered a dual destination incentive famil for selected buyers.

The format proved to be a success, attracting strong attendance and interest with a number of leads generated. Over the coming months these will be followed up with the goal of coordinating a famil to New Zealand in September.
