A-NZ on kiwi culture inspires travellers

Tourism New Zealand’s is giving international audiences the A-NZ on how to live like a local in New Zealand.

The social media series uses the familiar, simple format for learning the basics – A to Z of New Zealand, to give a glimpse into New Zealand unique culture and lifestyle, in a tongue-in-cheek way.

“From our accents to favourite slang words and our love of going barefoot, New Zealand’s kiwi-ness is what makes us special, but it can also take our international manuhiri (visitors) by surprise,” says Tourism New Zealand General Manager Marketing Kathryn Cunningham.

“This activity aims to show visitors a slice of kiwi life, allowing potential visitors to deepen their emotional connection with the people, places and culture of Aotearoa and entice them to choose New Zealand as their next holiday destination.

Tourism New Zealand research shows those considering visiting New Zealand feel motivated to visit to see our natural landscapes and sceneries, but many also wish to connect with and experience another way of life.

“We’re also using the work to address some knowledge gaps that our research has shown our active considerers have, like how welcoming the locals are and recommended things to and see do.

“Whether manuhiri are keen to try our delicious bear (beer), indulge in a kiwi (not the bird) burger or seek a little ahhhh and ahh in our relaxing hot pools – it’s here to find in New Zealand,” concludes Kathryn.

The content utilises Tourism New Zealand’s global brand campaign If You Seek creative platform and will be published on the 100% Pure New Zealand social media channels.
